I took a rod cap off my A ,bearing has IH emblem on it and below that ,a 3. 49. That would match the year of the tractor but nothing saying standard. I would assume these are original standard bearings ? Any thoughts thanks

Almost certainly STD. but you know what happens when we "assume".

Best to "mic" the shaft and/or the bearing shell to be absolutely sure.

Reality isn't forgiving about errors made in sizing insert bearings!

Whether or not you ultimately grind the shaft, verify oil clearance with Plastigage when assembling.

I posted that with out thinking its a 47 FAA 187647, I would guess I read year wrong or its had new IH bearings thanks

Question, if it's a 47, how did it get 49 bearing's in there, then, the first set of brgs only lasted two years, then the 2nd set lasted 70 years ?

Could be. They used the stuffing out of these tractors back in the day. Two to three years between overhauls was pretty typical as I understand it.

You wear the tractor out in two years, decide you need something bigger, and keep the small tractor as a "chore" tractor. Pretty typical of farming.

Sorta easy to figure out here as when it was rebuilt the parts that were used probably new parts that were setting on the shelf for several years in a depot or even the dealership . I took a job as a partsmanager and and OLD Dodge dealership and when i was cleaning the parts room and rearranging the shelfs and dusting out decades of old dust and dirt i found old Dodge parts band new in the boxes dating back to the mid thirty's . Back before Christmas my trust old 03 dodge Durango just died in and intersection and the hunt was on to figure out WHY it stopped running . now being up on modren tech. even after running all the test with a tool i said i would never buy that i ended up buying and after talking to and old friend that is still playen in the game at a the Goat store we got that parts that they told me to get as they were not sure either why it just stopped and tripped no codes and there way of finding the problem was just start throwing parts at it . well the Durango is and 03 the one part i got new and in the box had a build date of march 02 brand new never used . So one can not go by what a part is stamped as to year it was in stalled in.
