460 Utility Gas - Trouble changing hytrans fluid

We recently bought a 1958 460 Utility (gas) with an after-market front loader. I'm new to old tractors and it seems like the last owner never changed the hytrans fluid.
After draining about 10 gallons from the main two drains and replacing the filter, I can only seem to get about 5 gallons back in for some reason. At this level, the fluid starts to trickle out of the level check plug.

I'm using IH's brand from a dealer and have every manual that I can get my hands on including the Operator Manual from this site. While this one at least has overview diagrams with call-outs, which were very helpful, nothing seems to actually describe the process. There's only one fill point called out and I can't find another in case there's something missing.

Is there some process, level position, assumed-knowledge, etc. that I'm missing? This seems like it should be the more straightforward part.

While the tractor is not perfectly level (very slight angle), I don't *think* that's the issue.

you drained the oil from the bottom of diff. and refilling at plug by gearshift ? the oil level plug is on side with clutch rod.
 
There's no trick to it.

It's been almost a day... Have you gone back and tried to add more oil yet? You're adding oil to the transmission area, and it has to run back to the differential housing and forward into the TA area.

Offhand I don't know what size holes are there for that purpose, and you could simply be pouring faster than it can run into those two cavities. There is also a remote possibility that the hole(s) are somehow plugged.

Personally I might just go ahead and install the level plug and dump the whole 10 gallons in... That's the rated capacity, and roughly what you took out.

I actually started this process over a month ago, but the cold has kept me from bothering since I assume the fluid will just slow to a crawl once it touches that metal. I originally gave it a week to sit and
possibly move around before trying again. No luck, unfortunately.
I've been feeling that way recently too. Is there any risk of overfilling and building pressure? Is it counting on compressing the bit of air just in case?

Yeah, please ignore that photo with the funnel. Someone initially told me it was that bolt, which oddly enough does reach the cavity/pan. I've since figured out that the square plug was moved for the front
loader. I've tried both just in case.

Yep, that's exactly what I did. It seemed simple enough.

It's been a month? Something is not right then. Hytran is not that thick, even cold. It would not take more than a couple MINUTES to flow out, at worst.

Crack the three drain plugs and see what comes out. Nothing, clean oil, dirty oil, water?
 
I actually did that this last weekend for the lowest of the plugs, which is about below the rear axle, and it was the clean oil.
So, at least it traveled back there.

From what I can tell/read, the third is actually for the PTO, which has a separate 1 gallon fill point and drain.
 
My only concern is that the fluid gets everywhere it needs to go, and isn't all just pooled up in the speed transmisison, leaving the differential, final drives, and TA dry.

If you're getting clean oil to the differential housing and TA housing, plug up that level check and pour another 3-4 gallons in.
 
Last week I plugged the level check and filled the rest in. It started up normally and I've finally hit power back in the loader.

I think that the level check and the inlet for the filter that's on the opposite side, might be at the same level. So that 1 degree slant might actually have been it. I'll have to turn it around for the next time and see.
