Using 3pt equipment with fast hitch... who does that?

The guy i bought my 450 from said he pulled a 3pt brush hog with it. Someone welded a set of eyes above the rock shaft, so maybe he did.

A local guy told me his dad used a fast hitch to pull 3pt implements years ago, said they didn't have a 3pt adapter.

Anyone here use their fast hitch like that? The 1st problem i see is the bars don't have much side to side movement.

Thanks.

We had a IH 340 utility for a few years with 3-point adapters, it worked great. I made the top link bracket, but the bottom link arms
came with it. It was easy to hook up, you stop about 4 inches from the implement, slide the arms out and hook up, and then back up until
they latch.

Use the adapters. You will be much happier. I used them on a couple of 560's and a 806. We used
them for cultivating, plowing and whatever.

I have an IH 300U and three different sets of 3 pt adapters. Two sets are just the arms. Basically 2pt spears with 3pt lower lift arm ball connections at the other end. One set is straight and the other is a lot heavier and has an offset in the arms. I just use a standard 3pt top link with these. The 3rd adapter is a frame that mounts on the tractor. It has a place to attach a top link and then two upward facing hooks for the lower link pins to rest on. This is a lot easier to hook on. Once you catch the two lower link points on the implement in the hooks, a latch flips over and secures it and you can then attach your top link. I use this one the most. I would not just drag a 3pt implement around. Not when there are easily available and useful adapters. Damaging at times...I popped a tire being lazy ones and dragging an implement. Potential to be dangerous.

I bought a set of arms with pivot eyes and they work fine. My 300 RC had a top link connection point already in place when I got it, it has worked fine. I use a 6 foot
snowblower, PTO winch, flail mower and bush hog.

I have the 3 pt. Adapters that slide into the fast hitch. I also made a
mount for a top link. I have a 3 pt snowblower, back blade and brush hog.
All work perfectly fine. No issues here !

I have a Farmall Super C with the fast hitch. I use a 5' rotary mower with a homemade adapter with the two prongs on one side and the backside is for the 3 point. It works great. I also have a 7' sickle mower, but is for a fast hitch, so no adapters are needed.

Adapting 3pt implements to the fast hitch is not rocket surgery.

The key is having the right kind of adapter arms for the implement. Not all 3pt equipment is created equal, some you can use straight adapters, some need adapters that are angled up/down/in/out. Fast hitch width between points is somewhere between Category 1 and 2 3pt width, though some implements don't even follow that...

You put the adapters on the implement, then prop them up so you can back into them with the tractor like any other fast hitch implement. That's how you get around the fact that the arms don't swing in and out.

Barnyard...you are saying different implements need different adapters?? That must explain why i see them straight, curved, etc.

Maybe I wasn't clear on my op, so I'll try again...I don't have an adapter, but 2 people have told me they didn't use adapters to hook up 3pt implements to their fast hitch tractor. I been scratching my head trying to figure out how they did it.

I'm asking if anyone here has hooked up 3pt implements to their fast hitch WITHOUT adapters....

Another thing...I know someone here said a while back they made a fasthitch adapter, but it was too short. How far, on average, do you want the implement behind the rear wheels? I know you need enough room to turn around, but i'd think much less than on drag-type implements.

My plow and disk are drag type, cultivator is fasthitch. I need to mow my field and want to hook up mower to my 450.

Could someone put up the demensions of their adapter for me to use as reference.

Thanks again.

Right off the bat, I will say they are either full of carp, playing semantics, or not remembering correctly...

The long and short of it is, you need some kind of adapter, whether it is something cobbled up and bolted to the drawbar, or an "official" part specifically called "adapter."

Do you have a 3pt tractor that you normally hook this mower to? Use that for your basis of measurement. I don't mean measure the arms, but measure the horizontal distance from the center of the ball to the tip of the PTO shaft with the 3pt at mowing height. Also get the height of the ball center with the mower fully raised, and at mowing height. That should give you enough info to get a rough idea of adapter length. It doesn't have to be exact, but it can't be so far out that the PTO shaft comes apart, for example...

The 3pt tractor I used to brush hog/plow with went back to its owner...that's why I bought Charlene.

Thanks for the info.
