Does anyone know...

I do, I do....
its the world's smallest man standing beside IH's experimental Lawn Mower!!! (Mower Deck not included...some assembly required.)

I think that is what IH made after Ford pulled the Grand canyon together and they wanted to do that to.

IH did have an experimental wheeled tractor built on a crawler chassis. This could have been a version of that tractor, or something completely different.

I?m disappointed, I was sure someone would chime in saying...that is me back in 62 next to an IH blah blah...!there is still time I suppose, Lol! Interesting unit.

Maybe a tank retriever??? Can't see too much at the rear, but looks like maybe a tow bar back there. gobble

Didn't IH own LeTourneau for a time? There were a lot of large construction vehicles, with an electric motor running each wheel. Could be some of that?

There are some pictures of an early IH log skidder in an old Red Power magazine. They seem to think it is a prototype and there was not many of them built. It looks a lot like this one.

In 1953 Westinghouse electric bought LeTourneau. In 1960 they built the 4 lane highway in from our house and had several LeTourneau - Westinghouse motor scrapers.

Here's a photo of the scraper they used.

Ya never lived till ya ran one of them and for a real life experience worked on them . No steering wheel just a toggle switch between your left hand index and #1 finger to steer with a five speed non scyro trans mission three switches to control the bowl with and ya had to keep them Detroits wound tight to keep the volts and amps up . Yep i ran them and worked on them many times.

I was 14 years old when highway was built and remember they had no steering wheel. The guys that drove them knew how to handle them and they kept up with the Cat scrapers.
