Farmall 240 cutting out

I have a farmall 240 that was bought to use at hunting club it has new distributor plugs and wire and have cleaned the carburetor. It fires right up and runs perfect but soon as I put it under a load pulling disc it will start to bogg out and sputter, also boggs when I move the hydraulics up and down without anything hooked to it. Anyone have any idea what I could be missing here? Thanks for any help I'm new to tractors but know my way around cars pretty well.

an engine is an engine, don't matter car tractor or truck , maybe check the coil. have you touched it to see if its hot ? plus im assuming you have the carb set correctly, as no info on any adjustments of any kind.

Carb is about 3 turns out that seems to be where is ran the best. I may try replacing coil. That is one thing I havnt replaced.

Make sure you have good fuel flow to the carb from the tank. I'd check that first. I've had them clog at the openings coming into the fuel bowl and I had e a scenario that sounds just like yours with an M, where I had to remove the inline fuel filter to make it run right under load.

So I got a chance to mess with it again this afternoon and found I don't have spark on cylinder 1 or 3. Any ideas what I've got going on? Thanks for the help

Check the spark plug wires with a test light and make sure they aren't burnt out. Had that happen on a buddy's 8N once. Could also be point gap check for spark in distributor. Start there and work your way out.

If you are only getting spark on two of the plugs and not the other two then the problem likely lies with the wires and/or plugs on the two faulty cylinders. So systematically switch wires and plugs from the good to the bad cylinders. If, for instance, you change spark plugs between cylinders 1 and 2 and you now have spark on cylinder 1 but not on 2, then the problem is the spark plug. If you continue to have no spark on cylinder one and good spark on cylinder two, the spark plugs are working fine. Check the wires the same way.

After checking plugs and wires on the two bad cylinders and you don't find the problem, the you may have a problem with the distributor cap, but eliminate problems with plugs and wires first.
