IH McCormick B47 Baler

Hi,
I have an early B47 baler.
Can anyone tell me when these were manufactured as I would like to know how old it is.

The bale length star wheel is only mounted on one side of the bale chamber, have seen later models were the star wheel axle goes right across the bale chamber.

Cheers.

Replaced the B46 baler in 1964. Superseded by the 330/430 balers in 1971. Total of 36,112 balers produced all at the Wheatly Hall road plant,
Doncaster.

Many thanks as that gives a ball part figure for its age. Still going strong, though we only do 300 odd bales a year and can only use sisal. (One knotter works great with poly twine, the other never ties, but does hold the twine input side.)
Do you recall whether the star wheel axle on your B47 spanned the bale chamber or was it (as mine) only mounted on the off side?

Cheers. RB

Loved the video, can't think why I never searched for them. Cheers. RB

Thanks for the link to the 47B baling. The next video that came up on Youtube was IH's promo for it. After you see it, you will rush out to buy one. Link 47B Baler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_gVz7AlUsA
