Farmall 706 clutch

looking at a clutch and pressure plate for a Farmall 706, what do you think is a better clutch, A New clutch or a Rebuilt? these new pressure plates built just as good as the old ones?

New clutch disks are not used clutch disks with new parts. Your money, is the difference worth a split. or an early split? The new pressure plates are good if from a reliable dealer/supplier (NAPA, CaseIH, etc.) Jim

Every clutch disc I have bought recently came from China whether it was from NAPA or any other place. Seems like everyone is getting replacement parts from China. Chances are a lot of the parts on a new tractor come from there too.

Ya want a clutch that lasts , then ya get a Hy Capacity . You get the clutch the PPa. pilot bearing and throw out bearing, then you get the flywheel refaced . when you go to put it together you hang the PPa. on the PTo input shaft and you Hnag the clutch disc on the T/A input shaft and SLIDE the tractor together , this way the only thing that has to line up is the T/A input to the pilot bearing , then you worrk up thru the inspection hole and install two bolts at a time and turn the fly wheel and install two more and you Walk the PPa down a little at a time till tight . Then you remove the shipping blocks from under the clutch fingers and yopu are done other then the complete clutch Trans brake and dump valve adjustment.

I agree with the Vet. Installing the pressure plate and clutch disc on the transmission shaft is the way to go. With a clutch from Hy-Capacity you are getting a pressure plate that is accurately adjusted when it is assembled. I have been using their clutches & TA since 1976 and can not complain. Here are a couple pictures of a clutch job on a 656. It's the same procedure on a 706.
