Farmall B PTO

I'm trying to get the PTO reassembled on my BN after replacing some seals/gaskets. But I swear, I wore myself out trying to get this chore done. After I get the larger part of the unit fixed on the transmission I cannot get the smaller section to fit into the larger one so I can bolt it all to the transmission. I get to about a inch but no further. The shaft that engages the PTO is in the disengaged mode but the section will not push in. What am I missing? I have tried both putting the units on together and separately. I would post some pictures but I was too dern exhausted to push the button on my phone.

If you have the notches that drive the PTO lined up it should slip right on. Don't remember ever having a problem. What all did you have apart?

the pto drive has the two "BARS" end and you will need to turn the shaft so it will line up with the slots in the tranny that and the shift lever in the slot on the sliding part can be a problem

After my brother and I worked hours on this, my 23 year old engineering student walked in and asked to help. I said, "Sure, put that PTO assembly on the floor onto the tractor." We went about our business working on the timing and after about five minutes he said, "Okay, it's on." Go figure.
