Read your post about the spring being a tension spring. I think the spring has gotten into someplace it is not supposed to be. Looking at caseih site the whole assembly spring and ball would have a plug that all screws in on the outside of the pump housing. If I am looking at it right. I saw the original deal about the spring with it having a tail on the one end. This is the best I find. That pump new is a pricey thing. Almost 600.00 new. That is aftermarket from All State Ag parts. I have delt with them in the past for parts and have seemed like competent folks. I got all the front end bushings and bearings for a 1466 front end a year ago.

Thanks for responding . The spring however has not gotten out of place . Its shape conforms perfectly to the cavity in the shaft and shaft is made to hold the bottom cone part stable whereby the tension spring can stretch and remain in place . There is no possibility that it could get out of the shaft as it is contained by case on both ends . This is why this is such a puzzle . I have researched every other similar Thompson or Pesco pump and all schematics show a compression spring , ball, and cap . This one is about to whip me .

Well from what i am seeing of that gear i can tell you this if there is other scoring on the inside of that pump matching that gear i don't care what you think your doing to improve it's performance you are spinning your wheels and your only option is a replacement pump . Now as to whats out there for your tractor i can not say as yes i have worked on a lot of I H tractors in my time yopurs is not one of them. As in my area we did not have a bunch of utilitys i can only tink opf maybe six or seven that came thru the shop and i never bought any at the sales . around here the popular utility's were your fords and masseys and the rice burners . So now as to where to look for a pump that dependes on where ya live . Lots of the bigger salvage yards will ship Bate's Corp. in Burbon In. would be a good place to look for hard to find I H parts .

Yes I am aware it is badly scored. However the pump and lift were working well and the issue was the seal allowing hydraulic oil into the crankcase. I only use this tractor 20 hours or so a year and was just going to give seal a chance but came upon this problem. I'm almost resigned to purchasing a pump but just wondered if anyone had ever seen anything like this. Basically the parts in question do not match any schematic for this pump and the supposedly correct spring by the supposedly correct part number does not fit .

If you know what the spring pulls on when it is in new condition, a crimp tube for connecting wires, and a piece of
spring wire the same size can be silver soldered to each to make a repair. certainly cheaper than a new pump. all
it takes is clean metal and a easy touch with a small butane or propane torch. Watch a video. Jim

Looking at your other pictures the spring you seek looks just about like the spring they use to put over tubing for bending. So you might look at a tubing bender spring then just straighten out the end of it when cut to the right length. Best suggestion I have for you. Might or might not go through the hole in the center of the little piece.
