Pump rebuild frustration. Need a spring

Trying to rebuild hydraulic pump and need a darn spring similar to picture I attached that is broken. I ordered one through parts depot which is correct IH part number but wrong spring. It is ball check spring on an IH 425 Thompson hydraulic pump. If anyone has one that would work I would compensate you fairly. It appears this $ 2.00 broken spring may cause me to buy a new $500.00 pump.

I think we discussed this before, the spring just seats the checkball, it isn't a highly calibrated pressure relief or anything critical.

Just gab your coffee can full of spare springs and select one as near as possible to the original, or check out the generic spring display at your local hardware store.

If I'm wrong, what have you got to lose? Just a delay on buying a $500 pump, I guess?

We did and it might . However if you look closely you will see that the bottom of the spring is tapered to fit into the recess in a hollow gear shaft . I will probably end up trying a generic spring but not sure it will work due to special shape of this spring .

That how the spring works in the the old M belly pump, just sits in a hollow, and has a cap that detachable, but the belly pump spring doesn't have that tail on it ! If you got a M or similar repair manual you can see what it looks like !

I assume my unbroken spring would not have a tail either . I assume the tail end looks somewhat like the other unbroken end does with a few coils in between which have some space between coils to allow light tension on the ball . I do not have a manual but maybe someone could provide a picture . I am probably going to have to solder another portion of spring on and hope the tension is correct . Frustrating to say the least .
