The brass shaft in the control valve is very stiff and sluggish I tried to clean it with no Luck so I'm trying to remove the shaft from the housing to clean it but having no luck. Is there a pin or anything holding that shaft? Gene any ideas??

you are talking about the check assy by the filter. It is NOT MADE to remove as it is threaded into the housing and there is never any reason to remove it. remove the grease zerks and replace with new ones if you cant get the old ones to take any grease or just clean them. That shaft doesent move much but if you have it moving at all you are in good shape sometimes they are stuck so bad. It wouldn't hurt to fill the base with WD-40 or something to get the shaft moving. There is a seal in the center of that shaft made of something that seals one half of the housing from the other and as soon as it can get some lube to free it up it can work better. Just keep moving the shaft back and forth and it will start working better just as long as the spring can move it if you want send an email to [email protected] and I will send phone # and we can talk easier that typing good luck
