300 vs 350 steering shafts

Going to replace the steering shafts on my 300. The tractor has a hydraulic tower from a 350 and the top half of the shaft from a 350. Can I just get a complete two shaft for a 350 or is there a difference in the front half?

And also, should there be a spacer bearing behind the steering wheel? I ground down some washers to get the u-joint from smashing into the worm shaft.

Depends on what rear steering support is bolted to the hydraulics. F-300 was one type with a keyed rear steering shaft. F-350 used two different steering supports and splined steering wheel shafts. Without power steering the worm shafts were the same except late 350 with two piece worm shafts. 350 serial 10786 and higher came with different parts to help cut down on steering vibration. Rear shaft support and worm shafts were different. Most all now are found changed over to the common worm shaft.

If I remember correct the 300 steering shaft tube is flat at the rear and the 350 ones have a lip. Does your steering shaft support have the hole for a control valve shaft to change it from double to single acting without removing the hood side?

Yes, it has the hole to change from single to double acting hydraulics (although they apparently kept the 300 series valves since the tops are short).
