McCormick 39 plow wheels/tires

Hello, I just purchased a model 39 plow, it has mismatched car rims and bad tires. I was curious what was standard equipment tire size for this plow, or if there is an implement size more appropriate. It currently has 7.50x16. I'd also like to know if the 6 lug hubs it has were factory, I haven't seen anything but 4 lug/8 hole combos. Thank you, Nick.

I would think the 6 bolt wheels, and the 7.50x16 would of been standard, i got a IHC NO. 8, 10 foot field cultivator, that had 6 bolt wheels on it, but they are 15 inch. Can you post a picture of that plow?

Reference my reply in Implements. Per the IH parts book 27 inch steel wheel was standard and 4.50 x 16 and 5.00 x 15 were listed as options, both on 8 bolt
rims.

This is the plow, where I found her.

That looks like a typical #39 plow missing the coulters and mounting hardware. The coulters for the right hand moldboards will be relatively easy to find. It will be a far different story for the left hand side. Good luck! Nice looking machine.

I believe the 4bolt/8hole is the 'right' original equipment. The 6 bolt shown below actually look like old Chevy wheels, not standard implement wheels. That indicates someone cut off the original sleeved hubs and installed ball/roller bearing type hubs.I don't believe the 339 ever came with bearing type hubs.My #39 has steel wheels and the old sleeve bearings.Since colters are not used here, the colters may never been installed on that one either.#39s are common(or used to be) here. They still sell 2-3 a year here at the spring consignment auction.Scrappers buy most of them now. :( Tire size would most likely 600x16.(6.50 would do). Most 'old' farmers were too broke or 'scotch' to spend money on tires for their plow,so any old tire that held air was used.

Thank you for the information! I've been looking for one for a little while, I've only ever seen maybe 2 or 3 in person. I'm a bit excited to own one.
