Farmall m with a 450 motor

you gain about 13 cubic inches. so about 291cid. with no other changes Pto H stock was 51.3. I would expect no
more than 7 or 8 more so say 60. but remember if it is only for pulling it will take money to feed it parts. if
for field work, it can trash the differential/finals. a 560 had issues with an M derived final drive, and it would
require premium fuel, and it has a 3 main bearing crank. Jim

I thought it was 326 cubic inches is what you ended up with, that combination, but Jim know's his math, but the real risk is breaking the center web out of the block, then everything is shot,it's cheaper to buy some trophy's !!!!

Years ago I had a 1951 M that we (IH dealer and I) put the 281 fire Crater kit into a 264 block. The kit
had a carb kit and distributor kit that had to be installed . The timing was advanced 22 degrees and main
jet opened up 5 turns. We used an LP manifold and turned Rpm up to 1900 . After we used it a little we
took it in and they dynoed it at 75 HP.

Depends on a lot of variables. M&W claimed 65 + HP with their pistons, 5-3/4 stroke crank, 4.125 bore 307 CI. 6.8 compression ratio with all other 450 engine parts. Also showed kit for SM using same bore and stroke same power but 7.1 comp. ratio. One kit for a 400, same bore and stroke, 7.1 Comp. ratio with one HP higher. IH claimed one to one and a half HP higher in their regular engines when the 400 450 camshaft was installed in M and SM engines. M&W also sold 4.250 pistons for 326 CI. 7.3 Comp. ratio claiming 70+ HP. If after max power get a good crank with more stroke than 5-3/4. Make up a girdle to fit where the main caps go and extending to all oil pan bolt holes, then bolted down and line bored. Big dollars though.

My S/MTA with FLAT TOP M.& Ws will do 60 , my one friends S/MTA with stock stroke and high Alt. pistons with a stock 450 head and intake a blue printed cam some of my trick dist work and carb work is doing WAY over that and rivals the 806 on the grinder mixer grinding ear corn it will also drag a set of Oliver 4x16's at 8 inches deep in high third in sod , the down side is she is HUNGRY ya get about four hours to a tank and best not try for four hours and ten min. as you will be making the long walk for a five gallon can of gas .
