Let me know if you have any ideas.

What questions do you have? You may want to check out the Red Power Magazine forums too.

Just general questions about the engine, if they were used in anything else, how much fuel they will use, what machines undercarriage parts might work from, etc.

Really just hope someone will chime in that has ever seen one, or better yet has one :)

I have posted on RP also.. I am presently very excited about finding it and very impatient about learning more about them... I will try to take a deep breath.

I don't think there was any other tractor to use the same engine as the T14, there may have been a stationary power unit that used that engine, but I am not sure.

I looked in my IH book and it says only 117 of the gas T14 were made. After looking in my parts book I find that the gas T14 and the diesel TD14 shared some engine parts. The rest of the tractor, transmission, final drives, steering clutches, undercarriage are the same in both the gas and diesel versions. I seem to recall some guys talking on the Red Power forum about undercarriage parts off a modern crawler fitting the T/TD14. Try doing a search on the forum and see what you can find.

Evidently the gas T14 was never tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test lab because there is no test data for it in my Nebraska Tractor Test book.

I don't have any data on horsepower or fuel consumption, but with a 4.75x6.5" bore and stroke giving the 4-cylinder engine 460.7 cubic inches, I would imagine it is a thirsty beast!

After comparing the test results between other gas vs. diesel IH crawlers that were tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Lab, I find that the gas versions consistently produced more horsepower than their diesel counterparts, albeit with less fuel efficiency.

Here are the test results for the diesel TD14,
Drawbar (tested) 51.82 hp
Belt (tested): 61.56 hp
the gas T14 will produce a little more so I say it would produce roughly 60hp on the drawbar and 70 on the belt.

I agree with you on all fronts. I also looked through the tractor tests and found nothing. Odd. We are having a discussion on RP about the ring gear possibly different, which is a part i will need.

Does your parts book show the ring gear (Bevel gear)as a different part for the T14 opposed to the TD14?

Better yet, are you able to scan the page?

My parts book does say there are two different ring gears,

52400D 49 teeth used on serial numbers 501 to 1606
57582D 51 teeth serial number 1607 and up
Either one will fit the T14 or TD14.
Both could have been used in the T14, it would just depend on the serial number as to which one would have been used in a particular machine.

I do have an extra copy of TC25B the parts catalog for T14 and TD14 crawler tractors if you are interested. My email is [email protected]
