656 hydraulic pump

I have a 656 gear drive that has apparently shucked the hydraulic pump, I was lifting a big hay bale with the loader and it suddenly started with a whining/grinding noise an all the hydraulics quit, the pto still turns though. I can't lay hands on my book for it right now, and i"m in need of the information to take it apart and see what kind of problem I have. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

sounds like the same problem I had a few years ago. The retainer bolt had came loose on the pump drive gear. I was able to fix it without a lot of disassembly. Through the inspection hole on the bellhousing you can reach a plug that is close to the pump area. remove the plug and find the loose bolt and gear and can get everything back in place and bolt tight and plug back in. You will loose fulid... The plug was a square head I was able to make a socket for it from a piece of square tubing. hope this helps
