i hooked a 140 farmall to the tractor, day or so ago, and it would not move on a down hill pull. hmmm
neighbor brought a larger tractor today, and the wheels rolled. thanks for inputs.

hitched the 140 to it, on a gravel drive, and it pulled it. it was all that it wanted. (up grade) lol

I guess you are not familiar with the F20 as it DOES have individual brakes and 9 times out of 10 if the rear wheels won't turn the brake shoes are rusted to the drum. The brake drum fits over the shoes and it is a major pain to get them loose and apart without breaking the brake shoes.

Ok, be like the W12 then. I know those get seized.

im presuming your in a winter climate like here, so the bull gears frozen is the first thing to check , I have run into this a few times. with a tractor that old it makes the most sense. get a tiger torch and warm up the differential from underneath for an hr and it should be moving. cant see it being brakes because if its like the 10-20 its just a brake wheel outside of the case. there is no individual brakes to seize up .very unlikely those tractors get stuck in gear.

if the engine is stuck, the clutch may or may not be stuck, brake could be stuck, or as someone else also said could be stuck in 2 gears, and with the road gear, you shift the main transmission into neutral to engage the road gear, so try making sure trans in neutral, move the road gear lever both positions to see if it will roll. Frozen water in the trans or bull gear housings is also possible if in a cold climate. Or it just may be rusted and seized in multiple places. Take the drive coupling apart , if it still won't move you are going to have to start looking deeper.

Or a stuck clutch. If the engine is froze up and the clutch will not release the wheels are NOT going to turn.

What sde said doesn’t really apply, the transmission can still be in neutral and allow the wheels to turn. Unless something in the transmission is rusted up or seized. I agree with the brakes being the likely cause.

It could be stuck in two gears, at once.

brakes locked up? I have one the same way. I removed the connection between the engine and transmission during the summer, and have the same problem. brakes locked are the only thing left.
