Farmall M American Road Grader

I just aquired a Farmall M American Road Equipment Grader. I am still trying to figure out its serial number. I think it is 357892-R1. It is located on top of the cluch housing. If it is correct they sure made a lot of Ms in 1952.
Meanwhile the current problem I have is the need for a rim to fit a front tire sized 7.5 x 20. It was a split rim. The grader had been parked in a pasture unmoved since 1981. The tires were all down and under windblown dirt. When I aired the tires up this one gave up in about 100 yards. The rim had rusted all the way around. If anyone knows where I can get one please let me know.

Center housing casting number not used on a IH tractor until march 1953. Was used as a replacement part later on for other center housings. Should have a rectangular serial number plate on the left side of it unless it was replaced and serial plate not installed. Does it have a C-248 engine and disc brakes? Think they made some of those graders with a 248 engine after the engine was dropped in tractors. Rim is probably the same as a medium duty truck made in that time period.

Ok, I appreciate the help locating the serial number. I found a stamped number barely legible but clear enough on the left <side of the engine if one stands in the front looking back. That
number is 71088. The side that I am talking about is the one where
the magneto is. That puts it being made in 1944 which makes since
with it being made for the war effort which is why all of these plants
were built in this area, to produce synthetic rubber .

Also I have a lead on a rim for the front which should get me going for
a while.

Much obliged for the help men,
Charlie

If tractor still has serial number plate, it will be located as seen (circled in white) in picture below.

Yes the engine was installed in a 44. Center housing or something was changed if you have a housing like the picture.

There are no serial number plates located on either side of the motor.
The IH casting number indicates it is a Farmall.
The casting identication on the center front wheels, American Road Equipment Company is the only other branding.
As far as is it a C-248 engine? I will have to figure that out.
Attached are a couple of pictures of the engine.

Don't know if the rims I have will work or not but they are split narrow 20 inch. These rims are on a 1952 GMC farm truck. I have 6 rims and tires bolt pattern is 10 bolt not sure of circle diameter. :)

Thanks Saltydog,
The wheel that I need are 5inx20in no center, splint rims.
I have found the new type rim that replaces the split rim. It is really too wide and large in diameter at 7.5inx22.5in tubeless. It is probably the only way I will be able to replace it. I have aquired two 8.5in x 20in truck rims with tires but they are considerably larger in diameter.
I appreciate you looking around for me.

(quoted from post at 08:44:07 01/13/19) Could we see a pic of the entire thing please? :)

Im just curious how an M gets integrated into a road grader.

I should take a picture of it with better light.
