We have a Ih farm truck with a DT466e engine that was in
need of an in frame overhaul. We disassembled it in frame
then decided to pull the engine to replace rear main seal
which I guess we should have dropped the transmission
instead. The engine has always had oil leaks since we bought
it so I decided to remove the timing gear covers and replace
their seals. I need to remove the large idler gears. I can see
that by removing the inner bolt from them the whole idler
assembly it will come off, but how much force does it take to
break those bolts loose? I can?t get them to budge and I don?t
want to break anything. Thanks for any help.
