power steering on H

I've got another question pertain to the priority valve selection. The one in particular that I'm looking at is the Brand Hydraulics Side-Ported Adjustable Flow Control Valve — 3/4in. NPT ports, 0–30 GPM, Model# PFC51-3/4. It does not have a relief valve and has pressure in and with pressure out on one and controlled pressure out on the other. With the return flow to my tank I currently have, is there a need for pressure relief or any other return lines. I found my pump specs. and they're 12 GPM & 1000 psi at 1200 rpm's. Idle speed listed of 500 - 600 is 6 GPM and 700 psi.
Appreciate any input to assure the proper priority valve selection. Thanks!!! Frankenford1

I talked with you about this before.

You will NEED about 800-1000 PSI and 3-4 GPM at idle to make the steering work adequate.

The priority valve WILL divert the 3-4 GPM to the steering regardless of being used or not, so that gives you 2-3 GPM extra at idle.

If you put on a belt pump for the steering, these limits do not apply.

Bottom line is the priority valves really do not work well on the older low flow low pressure hydraulics.

I use my SMTA power steering with priority valve and have 3 pt hitch non priority. I am looking at changing to a separate PS pump run off crankshaft since the 3 pt is slower. The priority valve I have had 1" inlet and outlet, then I have a 3/8 hove off priority outlet to PS. I was getting too much pressure to power steering so I put a relief valve in that circuit. That may be my fault for the way valves are plumbed.

I appreciate your help here David BUT there is one big issue that I don't understand! My pump is NOT OLD. It was new in the box 5 months ago. The spec. is 6 GPM and 700 psi at idle but my pressure at idle never goes below 800-850 on my gauge. Gauges new as well fluid filled gauges. My neighbor put P/S on his M and used the same pump I've got. No loader but has 3 point with mechanical priority valve as does mine. His steers like a car. Rebuilt my entire bolster and steering but still a bear. Heck so bad as it is with a full bucket need about 2 acres and power steering by Armstrong may turn a circle but you'd work up a sweat. I certainly don't want to hear my $300.00 pump and $600.00 generator aren't adequate help with steering. Thanks Kindly !! Frankenford1

OK, then get a 4 GPM priority valve with a 1000 PSI internal relief.

Enough sad.

Search, the internet is full of them.

PRINCE model RD-400R

Order it with 4GPM and 1000 PSI, if that is the flow and pressure required.

Can you post a picture of the coupling on the front side of the torque generator? I think I might be able to help your poor steering problem.
