Has anyone replaced the pto bands? The one that keeps the pto from spinning in my 300 utility has run its course. I have a manual that explains it, but in there it makes it sound fairly simple. Is there any common hangups? Also is it ok to just replace the worn one or should they be done in pairs?
 
I did some work on PTO on my SMTA a few years back. Pretty straight foreward and nothing flew out or anything. My drive band was worn more than the brake one so I changed them around, figuring I needed the best one on the drive side. PTO has worked fine since. I have bothe the Blue Ribon Service book and IT manual, not sure which I used but not a hard job. Seems like I had to make some sort of puller to get it off or apart, book talks about it though. Those bands are pretty spendy so if they are too worn you might see if they could be relined
 
One other question, looking at the diagram I cant fully understand what actually engages the pto. Does the operating band clamp onto a drum of sorts to turn the pto shaft?

I don't know where you are located but "google" for someone who repairs and relines clutches. I did that for KC area and several places came up in MO and KS.

If you are interested I have some used ones that still have a lot of lining.
 
Well are you Charlie from Charlies Repair? If so I just purchased a 12 volt conversion kit from you. It went together great, thanks. I will give you a call on the pto bands.
