I have a47 farmall Super A that was leaking everywhere. It is now in many pieces on the shop floor being cleaned up and getting ready for paint. It appears that most seals on the backend of the tractor are double seals that are felt. Are those seals still available or is best to just go the the bearing shop and buy seals with the rubber seal and double them up.
I have found that most newer seals are not as wide or thick as the older seals. Does that create problems when installing?

I believe the rubber lip seal of modern construction is going to be superior. But as was mentioned, its important to repair the shaft(s) if they are worn. If there is sufficient space and bore length, doubling the seal typically gives the inner one a fresh, unworn piece of the shaft to ride on.
