Farmall 240 Wide Front Extra Plate Spacer ??

Anyone know why this torch cut Plate was added to this wide front? I am about to install the wide front on a Super C tractor and wanted to make sure nothing was missing or messed up.

That looks like a wide front end originally on a Farmall Super C, 200, or 230 as evidenced by the rubber bumpers. Those were not on the wide front ends on the
Farmall 240 or 340. Another sign of a original Super C wide front end is the rods going to the back end of the bolster plate. They go to the wide front end
tube. On the 240/340 WFE they attached via threaded rod with nut on the bottom of the tube in tube. On the 240/340 wide front end the rod went to the torque
tube on the back of the engine.

My knowledge does not allow multiple pictures. So here is a photo of a factory wide front end on a Farmall 340. Notice the difference between the two.

The plate spaces the front end back several inches to reduce the wheelbase and turning radius. Similar plates were used on the early wide fronts on H's and M's for the same reason.

You won't need that plate on the Super C.

Very good to know. I didn't know if it was done for a legitimate reason / modification, or if it was done because that axle didn't fit right, or because if something might have been broken.

If anyone has a use for it, I'll give it to you as long as you pay shipping.
