Do I have to drain the hyd. fluid to change the filter?

no do not drain to change filter. you might loose one gallon.

No. As was said,you will loose approx. one gallon. Place a bucket under the filter housing before removeing cover.

I was told by an old IH guy to run the rear tire on the filter side up on a block of wood or a ramp, tipping the tractor enough so the oil doesn't leak out. I still think it's a good idea to drain some out so you can see what it looks like, in case of water or contaminants in it.
