Did a double split on 350U.Bolted the front to the back and then left it sit for awhile.
Went to start putting the small pieces on yesterday and I found a piece of Key stock 1/8 inch by 3/4 inch laying on top of transmission. I can not for the life of me remember anything about the piece or where it came from. I have to think it is for the tractor some place. Thanks.

Does it have a T/A? If so did you remove the T/A clutch operating shaft and release bearing yoke? Two keys there, but could be 5/32 X 3/4. Think the ones on the brake shaft are thicker and longer.

Yes it has TA and many new parts.I did remove the T/A clutch shaft but I did all that away from the tractor.
I will look in the parts book to see if I can find sizes of keys on T/A shaft.

Sounds to me like someone was in there before and put that key in because they didn't have a woodruf key. Iv'e seen stranger things done by some half arsed mechanics.

D, the front bearing on transmission that has rollers, goes into TA housing and can be a problem getting it slid together. Some people use a rubber band to hold the rollers tight so easier to slide together. Could it have anything to do with that?

You don't have a "friend" that just happened to set it there to make you scratch your head, do you?

We used to have on old guy around here that delighted in doing stuff like that!

Once, when a friend had a 7060 Allis all apart, he dropped a few LH thread nuts in a can of parts!

Caused a bit of confusion 'til he 'fessed up to it!

Bob, you might be on to something. I can have enough difficulty on my own with out help from my friends.
