My pto unit had a thrush bearing go out. Guess it broke some rings to. I'm told the bearing isn't available on its own and I need to buy a bearing assembly for a lot of bucks. It's a later clutch style pto. I have two questions. Does anyone know if the bearing is available by some other means? Will a entire assembly out of a 460 work? I'm thinking a swap out might be the thing to do. The 460 appears to be the later style assembly also.

Punch up the link below, find the type of PTO you have, and you can look up exactly what bearing you need.

You can post back with the info, or check availability at the Messick's site, or even GOOGLE the part number to see what's out there.
560 powertrain

The 460 assembly should work. My recollection is that the 460 has a 1 1/2" (or so) cast spacer sandwiched between the PTO unit and the transmission case. You won't need that. Early 460/560 had the same PTO unit as the 350/450 and is called the Planetary type. The later is called the Clutch type.

as for the brg. , you need to take the old one to an actual brg. house. they will measure it and most likely have it. these people that look in books and say discontinued are not much help.

As I found out after finding the wrong snap ring inside laying at the bottom of the pto housing someone else was in here.
So I in no hurry to get get my pto put together. Want to make sure it is done right , because redos are not an option if I can help it.
I replaced all the bearings except this one so ,I need to get it out of the yoke and get the number off of it. I will call my friends at bearing distributor s foe help.
I will let you know what I find out, it won?t be soon I?m recovering from surgery. I f my son can get out for me it will be sooner. But not sure .
Press ahead best regards Dennis

I'm sorry, but what do you want them to do, pop a squat and try to produce one from their hind end? If it's not available it's not available. It's a 60 year old tractor, and the fact that you can get ANY parts through the original dealer is a modern miracle.

You can't realistically expect a manufacturer to keep every part for every piece of equipment they've made in the last 100 years on the shelf at every dealership. I just don't get this constant bagging on the poor parts guy either because some obscure rarely-needed part for a tractor that's so old it could be your grandfather isn't available, or because the part is available but expensive. It's not his fault.

and what may I ask is your problem??? huh, having a bad day? or are you a parts man? I never said it was his fault! I said he was not much help. there is time when stuff is said to be obsolete it can still be found with some digging!!! holy man some guys need a soak in cold water.!

Bearing is supposed to change from 374011R91 to number 87012543 from case. Wouldn't believe it unless checked first, priced to cheep. Thrust washers on each side of bearing 374041R1 to A150067.
