bolster thread problem solved

I will be the first to admit that this solution wouldn't work if the nut had to be tightened down severely. However it only has to hold a plate in position,
so it will work. I cut the nut and added a 1/16 inch spacer and welded it in. I also partially relieved the nut on 2 other sides. It fits extremely well and
snugs down with a ratchet. If you haven't a clue what this is for look up my other posts from last week and it will be obvious. I am going to try and fit it
inside a bearing, so that should also strengthen it somewhat. Ellis

Interesting solution. I believe I was correct in assuming the shaft was whacked rudely and swelled up, making it a non standard size My next suggestion was going to be to use a die of the correct standard size to reestablish the original thread on the shaft. Jim
