What'd I do wrong? H Starter button

My H is a 1939 with a magneto. It has the old toe pin through the upright to the old starter button.
I don't use an alternator or generator (or lights) -- I just recharge the 12v battery once in a while.
I bought a new bracket and starter button for the H.
I left the + battery post hooked to ground .
I ran new 1/0 gauge wire from - to left side of starter button
I ran new 1/0 gauge wire from right side of starter button to starter
I pulled the run/stop switch out
I hit the new starter button and it went pfft seemingly at the + battery post -- NOTHING beyond that. What'd I do wrong? what do I do now? Thanks, kelly

You have a bad/dirty battery connection. Clean battery posts, and where they connect to the tractor.Connections should be clean and shiney.

Hopefully you didn't melt the post away. New hire at work put new batteries in a Case loader, didn't clean or install the cables very well he heard a pfft like you did, 24 volt system took the post off of a new $250 battery with just the first start.
