Seems I read on here a while back if you change system to 12 volts from 6 there is a coil you can get so you don't need to put a resistor in the line to distributor. Maybe I'm wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

(quoted from post at 19:00:37 12/05/18) What is the part number for a 12 volt coil that can be used on a 6 volt distributor? TIA
if your changing to a 12volt system instead of 6 volt I use the napa ic14sb which is a 12volt coil that does not need the external resistor

Most new coils these days are internally resisted.the box should say so.However a NAPA coil will work but wont look right. If that matters, get an OEM looking coil from Stieners, this site, others.
