Farmall 460 fast hitch to 3pt

We recently purchased a 1962 Farmall 460. It came with the draw bar arms and has a top link adaptor on it. The top link adaptor confuses me some and unsure how it works. The one on the tractor is square tubing. Other images I have seen shows two ?U? shaped strap steel pieces on it. Those are missing on mine. I can fab those, but still unsure how the top link attaches to it. Can anyone explain how to attach the top link to it or have a picture of one in use? I want to add a 3pt log skid attachment but unsure how to attach the top link. The one I have looks like this minus the U shaped step steel.

Thanks for the help.

There is a top link that came with that style that had a end/clamp that would go over the center hole and be bolted or pinned in. The assembly then would pivot on the u bend clamps. I believe it was shorter than a normal top link.

Thank you for the reply. I can visualize how that would work. I would like to see an image of the top link you are referring to. I was thinking of trying to weld up some L-channel and make my own attachment point for the top link. I would just buy it if I knew what I was looking for.

The u straps go around the rockshaft, then you'll need to weld two tabs with holes drilled for your top link pin onto the square tube. if you can't picture what I mean tomorrow I'll take a picture of mine so you can visualize it.

Tom is correct that you can add tabs to your part to make it work. I usually change them to the other style as it is more rigid.

This is sorta what it would look like but the clevis would be large enough to go around the square tube. I have not seen one of that style for sale in a long while and this picture is as close as I could find to what I am taking about.

I had been looking at possibly changing it out to the other style in the photo. Is there one out there that is better than the rest? The only ones I really find are on Ebay. I appreciate everyones help in responding to my question. Thank you to all.
