IH 444 Grille Mesh

Does anyone know where to find the mesh that goes behind the grille on a 444? The part number is 401497R1 and is Item # 21 in the diagram. Is there a material that I can buy and cut it out myself? Obviously, I could use about anything, but was looking to find something close to the original. Thanks!

I had a similar need with my 2424. I ended up making a frame out pressure treated plywood, maybe 2" wide. Then I stapled on hardware cloth of two different mesh sizes on the back, and spray painted the whole thing IH white. Screwed it into the holes at the top for the real frame, tied the bottom in with eye screws and wired it to the radiator support. Lasted about a month before I stuck a branch through the mesh while skidding firewood. The replacement mesh screen has lasted many years now.

Not ideal, but you have to look close to tell that its a cob-job. No other options, the parts have not been available for a long-time, I believe.

I completely forgot about them! Thanks!

you can find punched panel or perforated panel with various size holes. Best I remember a sheet big enough
to cut one on ebay in stainless is under $50. That will match OEM.
