Farmall super a radiator

I picked up a super a project a couple weekends ago with a stolen radiator. All that was left of it was the lower tank, I guess cause they didn?t have the right size wrench to remove the lower nuts. Anyway, I need a radiator for it now cause it seems to run real nice. I see two types for sale, pressurized or non-pressurized. How do I know which one I need? This tractor has a 280000 range serial number and no water pump. I also have a parts tractor with a 290000 range serial number that has a good radiator, but it has a water pump. Can I use it without any trouble?

The Farmall A with NO water pump (never a standard fitting) would work a non-pressurized (earlier versions) or pressurized radiators (later versions) My 1948 Super A has the non-pressurized version.

I think it will work, if it fits physically. Many of these small tractors had a water pump added after the factory. The water pump doesn't provide the pressure anyway, it's a tight fitting cap and the expansion of cooling water when it is heated that makes pressure. Just put a cap from a non pressurized system on the new radiator. And make sure that it has the drain tube from the neck of the radiator down to the bottom in case of over fill and expansion. If the system is not blocked with debris or scale it should work as a thermosyphon cooling system just fine.

Thanks for the info. I think the radiator that I have on my parts tractor is a non pressure unit. I think what has happened is that someone has added a water pump to this tractor years ago. It bolts in place of the lower water neck and has the hose connection on it.
