Anyone have aluminum pistons for farmall super h or know where to buy from. My brother is looking for just pistons & rings to put in a tractor that was stuck. It does not have aluminum pistons in it now. Pistons are 3-9/16". He does not want to buy whole kit. Thanks for any info.

Try bates corp, most places only sell a cylinder kit. If it was stuck he would be wise to install new sleeves. A decent kit to properly rebuild it can be bought for less then $500.

Well let's start off with the fact that myself i have never seen a super H with nothing but and aluim. piston in it . You may think that it is not aluim. as the old org. ones were FORGED aluim. and out of the box new they were a gray in color . Now fast forward to today and we now have Cast aluim. pistons and they are bright and shinny from the finish machining . Now myself i can buy just pistons and rings if i need to as i can buy from a jobber that sells engine parts . Not everyone can do this . Now if this engine was STUCK due to rust in the cylinders then mor then likely the sleeves are pitted and in this case you may find that even after using a RIDGID cylinder hone that the rust pitting is deep and by the time you get it honed out you are far past the ware limits of the sleeve. If you use a deglazing hone and the sleeves were out of round and have a tapper then your just going to make it worse and shoot your self in the foot even more. Or do i see a patch together throw some paint on it and sell it and claim a rebuild deal. If your pulling the head and pan due to a seized engine then rebuild it and something that old needs to come out and be done with and out of frame rebuild . Yep your getting in deeper then ya want as with any engine of that age . Ya may find the crank is out of round and wore , ya may even find that the crank is Al ready maxed out to the limit . When you play in the old tractor market they are like a box of Cracker Jacks you have no idea what your going to find inside .

Super H and Super M were the first Farmall tractors built with aluminum pistons stock from the factory. H & M originally had cast iron pistons, most replacement pistons for them were aluminum.

I've priced out engine rebuild kits for Super H's for 30 years now, I should have bought the first one I priced, quality US made parts, but still cheaper than the imported junk advertised now.

On this site just pistons are 75.00 & rings 97.00 for set. So about 400.00 & looking for stepped head used.

Do yourself a favor and just look for a good deal on a complete sleeve and piston set and do the job right
Why half a** it and have problems

You can buy a complete sleeve piston set for that price. There are numerous vendors online. You local machine shop could even get them.
