International 240

I'm a new owner of an International 240 and am sure I see will have many questions as I tinker with it. First projects will be trying to get gauges working. My tractor has been overhauled and converted to 12 volt. I need a battery box cover. Tractor has been converted to three point and seems in good condition generally. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Unless you are making it into a show tractor, purchase a marine battery box of the size for the battery location and be done with it. They are ABS plastic, and are
permanent. Jim

Thanks for your reply, my tractor has the battery box, all I need is the cover and I could probably fabricate one of all else fails. I would love to see a picture of one for ideas.

All else will fail. There are more 240s than there are battery covers in any condition, and nobody is making reproductions.

I personally prefer the battery be out in the open, as mine was. It keeps fresh air moving across the batteries so fumes don't build up and cause corrosion.

If you have a battery box on your 240, it`s not original to the tractor, as a 240 never had a battery box, just a cover with 2 long hold down bolts. The cover also had the plate with the gear shift pattern on it.
