transmission oil heater

I have 1066 that runs the bale grinder all winter, when it's real cold it takes a while for the hydraulic oil to warm up so I can use it to bed the cattle. I was wondering if any body put a heater in the transmission drain plug to heat the oil before starting the tractor,I would plug it in the same time as I plug in the engine heater. Thanks Bob

I don't think you would want to use a tank heater like used on engine heater's, that would burn the oil, but something that didn't get that hot, i would think might be ok,or use a Kneipco space heater, just point it at the belly of the tractor is what i have done! They burn no 1 diesel fuel!

I have a "heat magnet" that I have used to start troublesome trucks in deep winter. I usually stick to the bottom of the oil pan for a couple of hours. I think its a 300W heater if I recall correctly. Can't recall exactly where I got it though. I think it would do well on a timer of some sort.
