I have a 1930 10-20 running, but not well, I have looked for the timing mark on the flywheel but can find nothing. What am I looking for? / TDC ...

You could pull the number one spark plug out, and turn it over to where the piston is at
TDC, with the rotor pointing to the number one position on the cap of the mag, then make
your own mark on the flywheel. That hole, where you look at the flywheel, is mostly just
for mice to crawl in and out, as they fill your bell housing with mouse nest. If you time
it according to the manual, you don't need to look at a mark. Hope this helps.

I find it easier to take the cover off the hole on the side of the block to find Top-Dead-Center (TDC) on these older engines.

Did you take the tin cover off behind the firewall. Two large bolts on each side hold it on. My 29 10-20 has several timing-informational marks around the outside of the flywheel. In the center of the tractor behind the firewall is a V notch for the timing. It will line up with the marks around the outside of the flywheel. I used a timing light on my tractor just this summer to set the timming after I rebuilt my magneto. My timming light needs a battery to operate but it was easy to use and to dial the timing in that way.
