New tractor.....on the farm.

I recently bought a 1937 F-12...everything looks to be there; on steel. The rear wheels have lugs; I assume I should take the lugs off? Not farming with this one; when I get it fixed up I will learn how to "put rubber on the steel wheels" so I can run in parades. Thanks .

Till you put the rubber on I would leave the lugs on or it will not move well due to slipping. As for rubber there are a number of way to do that and I'm guessing you do not want to do cut offs and do true tires on it

WHEN DAD GOT OUR F 12 AT GRANDAD SALE WE LIVED 10 MILE OR SO. DAD SAID WE WILL JUST ROAD IT HOME, ONLY 2 HOURS DRIVE. WE TOOK LUG OFF AND I GOT TO DRIVE IT HOME. GOT STUCK ON SEVERAL HILLS. DAD PULLED ME OVER THE HILLS WITH THE OLD 53 FORD CAR. AFTER 2 OR 3 HILLS HE SAID WE WILL JUST AS WELL PULL IT THE REST OF THE WAY.

Good original steel is hard to come by. I'd find me a set of cutoffs if I absolutely wanted rubber, or better yet, a set of F&H full round spokes. Mine came with F&H. A lot of folks that have cutoffs are trying to find good original steel.

Hi there; I'm new at this Old- what are "cut offs"? I dont want rubber - thats why I did buy this one. Thanks.

Cut off is where one cuts the spokes and then welds on a rim that you can put a tire on. So what your wanting to do is rubber covers over the steel so you can drive it on the road but not need to worry about flat tires
