504 Utility vs Log Splitter. Low hyd pressure

Hello,
I have an IH 504G that I have inherited. I was wanting to use this tractor to run a log splitter. I usually run the log splitter off of a
Kioti CK35 that has a 12 gpm hyd pump.

When I put the splitter on the 504, it will not develop enough pressure to power through splitting a tough log. The Kioti would. I have
replaced the HYD pump with a new in box 17 gpm pump. Also I have replaced the pressure relief valve on the top of the remote block by the
quadrant lever with a 2500# relief valve.

With the original pump and with the new pump, I get somewhat identical hyd pressure readings off of the remote when I plug in a fluid
gauge; about 1000 psi out of the original 12 gpm pump and 1200 psi from the new 17 gpm pump.

I have read quite a few posts, especially from Charles Todd, that refer to relief valves. Other posts refer to a flow divider valve for
the power steering that is adjustable.

Does anyone have any suggestions to where I should look next. I feel as if there is a partially open relief valve somewhere in the system
that is limiting the remotes to 1200 psi.

My next idea is to plug the splitter into the hyd outlet block on the left hand side of the tractor below the fuel tank. However I am not
sure if this is a good idea or not.

Thank you for any direction you can provide.

Yeah, the kioti probably has a modern 3000PSI hydraulic system.

Doubt if it will make any difference running off the side remote vs. the rear remote. If you can measure the pressure off the rear, you can certainly measure the pressure on the side remote and prove it to yourself.

I don't know what the factory pressure for that tractor is, but it's not much more than 1200PSI. Definitely not going to get 2500PSI out of it.

There might be something useful here.

Thank you for the link and the input about checking pressure on the side.

A local shadetree tractor mechanic suggested that I disassemble the Flow Divider and the Pilot Valve Mechanisms and inspect for a faulty pressure relief valve. This is the same system as a 606 series which ran a relief pressure pop off at 1650PSI and he reasons that the 504 should run at least a 1500 or 1600 psi hyd system pressure.

Has anyone ever dug into the Flow Divider or Pilot valve and found issues?

Thank you.
