384 glow plug conversion

I just purchased a 384 (not sure what year) tractor. It needs some TLC.

I called the local IH dealer and found out glow plugs are $44.95 CAD each. Has anyone done a conversion to more more modern 12 volt glow plugs and if so where did you buy the kit? I found one out of Australia but it is a little high priced by the time it ships to Canada.

Install Bosch #80035 Duraterms, connect 'em in parallel, and eliminate glow resistor in dash.

Will those fit without a sleeve conversion? If so do I eliminate the wire (ground) from the last glow plug?

What Bob said. I converted my 364 to the Bosch and it is like a completely different tractor to start. 15 seconds of glow plugs and instant
start. I got my set from Rockauto for less than $60 for a set of 4.

Yes, and yes.

They are a one terminal glowplug, NO place to put a ground wire!

I have them in the BD154 in my 424, and also installed a Chevy 6.2 glowplug controller, so GP's are automatic just like a modern unit.

Should be some photos in a previous thread on here, a quick archive search didn't turn it up, though.
