Okay, last week I posted about a nice Cub. But I think's priced too high...
Another man whom I know well has a great looking "A". Good paint, good tires, 12 volt with alternator, 12 volt hydraulic pump with small reservoir and a hydraulic lift cylinder. It has a nice single-bottom plow mounted to a 2-point hitch, that's connected to the hydraulic cylinder. The front of the plow extends forward to a spring loaded rod that's connected to a big hand lever. Is that a "Lift-All" system? (Tractordata.com calls it Pneumatic Lift-All. How did that work?)
The serial number is hard to read but looks like FAA1198nn. Would that make it a 1945?
Haven't heard it run or called yet.

Not a lift all if just a hand lever and spring. A exhaust lift will have a valve on the exhaust manifold, and a large cylinder that connects to implements. The electric/hydraulic is nice (not original) because they didn't have hydraulics. If the rubber on the rear is OK and not weather checked, and it runs well (run it for 2 hours to be certain) it is probably worth 1500 to 2000 with the plow. They are 3 time the tractor compared to a cub. Jim

Thanks. I knew the electric hydraulic system was not original. But I don't understand how the pneumatic/ exhaust lift works. How does the exhaust build up enough pressure to lift implement?
The lift arms on the rear of the tractor look to be original, part of the Lift-All system, I guess. IH was not far from having a 3-point lift at that time, were they? I guess Ford/Ferguson had a patent on it then.
I called the man: he's asking $4000. That's too much for me.

The exhaust cylinder is very large diameter (7 inches + or - ) the pressure from the exhaust is 14 psi or so before the engine stops. About 120 square inches results in more than 1000 pounds of lift. Coupled with a hefty spring assist, they worked well, if not a bit clumsy. It was however "live". That price is out of bounds. That might be purchased by a person that did no research for value, or needed to complete a collection. Jim
