Value of 1949 H with distillate and gas tanks

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in a 1949 Farmall H with the gas and kerosene tanks is worth. The rubber is pretty good but the engine is stuck. It's been shed kept for the last 20 years or so. The sheet metal is good but needs a paint job. I have a shot at buying it tomorrow at an auction here in S,E. Ohio. The auctioneer says it's only good for scrap, but I can see that old girl run again. Is anyone interested in it?? My email's open Keith

The trouble with the distillate tractors is the head is not particularly desirable. Lower compression than a gas model and no one is particularly after less HP these days. You will spend more buying a gas head than you will pay for the tractor.

The Rubber would have to be at least 80 percent and the tread bars very square/original. No cracks, cuts, etc.

Sounds very neat! Over here you could buy Farmall H tractors set up for kerosene or… kerosene. Pretty well the same deal for Farmall M, AM and Super AM tractors. Later you could buy diesel versions, AMD, Super AMD, AW-6 Diesel, AW-7 Diesel. There were some MD with petrol / diesel motors and a few W9s imported to Australia, but the 264 cubic inch direct injection diesel motor was far more popular. The U.S. prices now are much lower than here. It would be almost impossible to find a Farmall H with straight tin work for under $2000; probably because there are so few here, by comparison.

$200 plus the value of the tires would be great plenty for it as-is. It would be easy to put $1,000 worth of parts and paint, plus hundreds of hours of labor into restoring one like that. Plenty of running H's are available for under $1,000 and restored tractors don't bring very much more. If you need a project, go for it.
