Farmall H head compatibility

Good day folks,

I'm not really a Farmall guy, so bear with me on this one. The shop my brother works for is rebuilding a Farmall H, and in the process they found the head to be cracked. So, he's looking for a good head, and I can't resist the thrill of the hunt, so I'm lending a hand. But, to give us a bit of help in our search, I need to ask - what other models have heads that are compatible with the H? It looks like W4's have the same engine, but what about Supers, and 300's?

Thanks in advance.

There is 3 different heads in the production of the H, so get your casting number and start looking. That's what I ran into when I needed one. Good Luck.

H size engines through SH would be a direct bolt on. Some real early H heads used 3/8 manifold studs before the switch to 7/16. 300 and 350 heads will work but they didn't have the pipe over the valves joining the pipe from governor to head and port in rear of head to air cleaner intake. They used a valve cover opening to air intake pipe. Picture of a 400 valve cover and pipe like a 300 would use, later IH used a rubber hose between valve cover and air intake. 45 degree fitting on valve cover end has a metering hole. IH did make a replacement gas head casting 362533R1 if I remembered the number correct that could be used for both hook ups. 300, 350 and replacement head used different valves than H and SH gasoline heads. 300 and 350 LP used different ones and gas valves would be different from other fuel heads in all the tractors. Casting number of gasoline heads on H, SH was 8043 up to a DD suffix on a SH. 300 and 350 gas heads were 361179R1 but could be off on that number just going by memory.
