super c thermostat

I stuffed a rag down in the housing and used a wire wheel to clean the inside out where the thermostat sits. I had a thermostat out of a 1976 Chevy P/U 350 that fit perfectly. I put 3 very small dabs of JB weld around the outside of the thermostat to hold it in. I figure if I have to ever take it out, I can use a Dremel and remove the JB weld. It has been in there going on 10 years with no problems.

My thermostat was lose against the clip, found that a short piece of 1&1/2 black pvc drain pipe fit lightly snugly in the pipe above the thermostat and kept it in place. If the wire clip is absent I guess one could use a stainless screw between the pvc and the housing as a jam screw. Stainless wouldn't corrode, neither would the pvc.
