sediment bowl gasket on H farmall

Bought new cork gasket for sediment bowl and I can not get it to stop leaking no matter how tight I get it. Any suggestions?
 
Try putting some Yamabond on the gasket and retighten it. Make sure the sediment bowl is empty of fuel when you put the yamabond on the gasket and let it sit overnight to dry before you let fuel back into it. If that doesn?t work I would try double gaskets on it or a new bowl assembly. Yamabond is great stuff even on fuel as long as you let it have time to dry. It won?t eat out from fuel like RTV.
 
Most cycle shops have it. It?s actuallly made for dirt bikes and atvs but is a great product for anything. It even works good in carburetors. Just remember that it doesn?t take a lot. Check it out on google. It comes in a black tube
 
That gasket needs to soak up gas to in turn get soft and swell to seal. I put them in gas before I install them. But since your has leaked turn off the gas let it sit 24 hours and turn the gas back on good chance it will stop. If it does not then you have a chipped bowl or part of an old gasket in the housing or the sediment bowl housing of bent out of shape
 
Check the metal where the glass bowl fits and make sure it is not warped. Without a gasket does the glass bowl seat firm or can you "rock" it lots are warped because of overtightening and no gasket can make a good seal then. I use the rubber ones and finger tight on the adjustment at the bottom to tighten the glass to the metal frame.
 
I put a new gasket in awhile back. had the same problem then after about 3 times taking it off and on I realized the screen wasn't in there. one I put the screen in first then the cork gasket all was fine.
 
I've been there, done that. The pot metal casting the sediment bowl seals against can warp (as pointed out). Some of my tractors have two gaskets to get the sediment bowl sealed.
 
Yep it is warped . This happens when they get more then finger tight , NOT as tight as you can make it with a set of 440 channel locs . The cure for this is a new sediment bowl.
 

I've had luck with two gaskets when one wouldn't seal. Also you can just get some gasket material and cut your own. Make sure the gasket material is for gasoline.
