Greetings!
I have installed the splitting stand (thank you, Charlie) and have cribbed the rear end. I have removed the eight "peripheral bolts around the engine block, the three bolts just forward of the oil pan, and the two bolts near the starter. All interference has been removed so, I think that I am ready to split.
Two questions:
1. Do I need to do anything to the drive shaft before the tractor can be split. It looks like the shaft is "splined" on the clutch side and should slide out once I move the tractor forward. Is this correct?
2. What do need to do to break the "seal" between the block and the dry tube in order to make the split easier? I do not want to take the chance of cracking the areas where the bolts engage the dry-tube and block. In other words, can you give me any tips on actually splitting the tractor.
This has been an amazing journey thus far and I am glad that I have a lot of folks willing to help me, a rookie, in all of this.
Thanks in advance!
