what are some indicators that might suggest that the valves might need adjusting

my 300 timing is right but it still sound like it missing a little

any suggestions welcome

Loose clearance make tickie noises, tight clearance makes no noise. Tight often makes a little running issue. Loose (unless way loose) makes little difference. Remember carb
adjustment at idle is critical. Jim

valve or valve seat may need attention

a miss can be cause by dist shaft wobble a bad cap , wrong or old leaking wires , wrong plugs wrong plug gap, Points . Carb settings weak springs inside the dist. a stuck shaft on the cintri. advance as NOBODY ever puts a couple drops of oil on the felt under the rotor.
