Looking to replace rear ties on an IH 2400A. I thought it a little odd that it has 16.9x28. I would think it would have 16.9x24. The tires are Goodyears and say nothing about being tubeless on them.

My question is: How can I tell if they are tubeless without breaking one down from the bead? They have metal valve stems with the nut threaded down to the rim. gregjo1948

If they don't say tubeless, they are probably not tubeless. When that tractor was built, tractors still had tubes.

You can put a tube in a tubeless tire, and it is not likely that your 45 year old rims will hold air without tubes.

Go look at the valve stem on your car or truck then look at the one on your tractor. If they look the same where they come out of the rim then you have tubeless. But if they look different then you have tubes. A tube will have a lock ring on it and a double valve set up so you can hook up a fill hose for fluid but where it comes out of the rim it self is where one looks real good to figure out which it is

Our newest tractor has tubeless tires and it has brass valve stems with the extra fitting for filling, I think they look the same as a tube. When I broke one off I replaced it with an automotive rubber one.

If you looked close you would find it had a a nut and rubber washers between the inside part and the outside part. Worked on a good many of those type also.
