504 hyd valve

Trying to fix my hydraulic valves on the Farmall 504. One is leaking from the stem. I noticed it had a hole in the opposite end and the other is plugged. Where in the world would I get a replacement plug?

You might check a local salvage yard for that plug or it may still be available from your local Case/IH dealer.

The plug is a dust cover. It has nothing to do with the leaking.

I've seen them plugged with pipe plugs to stop the leaking, but all that happens is the cavity fills with oil, and then the valve won't work.

There's a trick to fixing them so they stop leaking. What that is, I don't know. I've successfully fixed one, pretty much dumb luck. Any before or since leak like sieves even with all new parts.

I think I will just use a cork plug to keep the dirt out. The valve is leaking from the stem on the other end. The o-ring had a cut in it so should be easy fix.
