300U crank pully

Hello: we have a 300U partially tore down looking for boogered cam keyway and just noticed the crank pully is not the stock pully and it has extra timing marks like a total of four, does anyone have a stock one to check before I tear further? the timing seems to be off as it wont run good anywhere its set. this one was part of a Wagner front end loader kit and im thinking it was made to fit more than farmalls with extra marks?

Here is a scan of pulley in 300U operators manual, the pulley has 4 marks it.

I would verify, by pulling out #1 plug and shining an LED flashlight into the port, that when turning the engine by hand, you can see the piston crown hit the apex of its stroke, and at that point, that the timing marks are somewhat close to the stationary indicator. If that test fails then the crank pulley is not correctly set.

Before you set distributor timing there, its advisable to pull the rocker cover and look at both the intake and exhaust valves. There are two times that TDC is reached in the combustion cycle spanning 2 revs of the crank. Only one of these is proper to set the ignition timing. The #1 cyl intake and exhaust valves will be "quiet" on both sides of the "correct TDC", as opposed to movement observed right around the "incorrect TDC".

Thanks! You tripped my brain and I borrowed 2 old owners manuals with a wealth of information in them. They go into setting the time in detail and also maintance of the timing advancing system, I have to slow the rpm's down to below 375 as above that it start advancing which will give a wrong/false setting then proceed to set the timing .
Next I have to take the power steering off and see where its leaking from and fix that! Thanks for the help finding the right manuals!

OK: we opened the distributor completely and found it all gunched up causing it to stick in numerous positions and the springs were shot also not helping the situation and the shafts were severely wore past specs so im looking at going new and bypass the joy of rebuilding and fitting that would take.
The problem I cant overcome: I cant find the torque setting for the cam and crank nut anyplace, I have found for a case engine in about the same size but nothing for IH! This sounds crazy that in all those manuals (9) they don't give the torque settings for these two very important parts! Again thanks for the help! Warren

Update: pulled spark plugs and the second mark from the bottom right on crank pully is tdc and it is drilled and tapped for the Wagner loader oil pump drive so im thinking it was included in the Wagner kit. Got new distributer and installed it. have been purchasing used gear shafts for the power steering and have enough to do that- what a pain to find these obsolete parts-lol
