I recently had a message posted about an International 786 and wanted to ask another question. We recently bought a 1981 and got it home to discover a problem. When putting the throttle wide open it starts to sputter and put out white smoke. When the engine is slowed back down it runs normaly. It has a turbo and I was wondering if maybe it was drawing an intake line shut. We also thought it may be a fuel problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Check and make sure you have plenty of fuel flow.
My 686 with the d-310 will do the same thing and i have to take the fuel line off and back blow it into the fuel tank to get a good fuel flow.
IHC has on the fuel tank outlet a pipe sticking up a inch or two with a fine screen on it and it will get clogged sometimes.

It may be late in time. If it does it when you open the throttle quick when the tractor isn't warmed up, it might be the air intake hose between the turbo and the manifold may collapse. It will do this if the hose is oily and soft.

Check your air intake passages.
